I have over 30 years’ experience in the polymer industry 15 of which have been at Plastribution as of 2017. My principle roles as Technical and Business Development Manager are to further develop, support and manage the Plastribution technical resource and investigate new markets, materials and suppliers via my Business Development function. My main functions includes liaison between customers, suppliers, Plastribution sales teams and managers, and external providers of services and products. The job itself is made up of many facets but some of the key areas are ensuring compliance e.g. REACH, the maintenance and updating of various material related approvals, providing front line technical support to the business, developing a support network of industry organisations and the provision of technical training for customers and staff. Business Development includes investigating new products and markets, working with key suppliers and OEMs and guiding projects from concept to commercialisation.
These days technical support and Business Development are some of the most important areas of a distributors business. Plastribution is not just a supplier of raw materials – we can offer customers a one-stop-shop offering everything from helping with product design right through to tool trials and material qualification. It’s all about adding value to our business and creating long term partnerships with both our customers and suppliers.
